A blue eyed bundle of joy came

On August eighth that year.

With dimpled cheeks, a winning smile

And beautiful, blonde curly hair.

The excitement you caused in our family

Was truly a joy to behold.

The things you did to cause us to smile

Is a story to be told.

You were the apple of your Daddy's eye;

You were his pride and joy.

But soon he lost you to someone else-

A handsome college boy.

He moved you away to Portland,

It seemed so far away then.

Since then many things have happened,

And we've forgiven him.

Into your lives, too, there came,

A bundle of joy so bright.

She's the apple of her daddy's eye;

She's also a grandparents delight.

As the anniversary of your birth draws near

I write you this note to say,

You're still the apple of our eye,

And we wish you a Happy Birthday!
